About us

Vmed was born out of the growing need to provide a sustainable solution to ever escalating non-healthcare expenses. It has been positioned within the industry as a vehicle through which medical schemes are empowered to effectively manage the cost containment of these expenses. As such, Vmed provides a cost-effective service to clients without surrendering on quality.

The Vmed Model
The Vmed and Liberty Medical Scheme teams have designed a model that strives to achieve the perfect balance between current
in-house and outsource administration models within the industry by eradicating the problems associated with these models yet reaping the advantages of both.

By separating the full administration process into Back and Front office, Vmed has designed a model that carefully balances responsibilities and resources between the two, and has developed a set of processes for each task and subtask, with clear exposition of contact and crossover points.
Vcore - Back Office Functionality
The Vmed Back Office is capably handled by an expert group of specialists, helped by proven ICT systems. The Vmed Back Office provides and manages all ICT required for the entire administration process; handles database maintenance; raises, collects and reconciles contributions; receives, assesses and pays members’ claims on behalf of the relevant medical scheme.
Vtouch - Front Office Functionality
The Front Offices handle all contact with employee groups, members, providers of service, and intermediaries. Both front office and back offices work off a common system and a common dataset, allowing for full and complete integration.
Vcare - Managed Care
An in-house managed care capability runs off the Careware platforms provided by NHA. This is a service offering that is combined and integrated with the back office administrative services offered by Vmed. There are significant benefits to a scheme integrating their administrative and managed care services by placing these services with a single provider.
These include:
  • Cost-containment
  • Quality standards and comprehensive management of hospital benefits
  • Access to care, process of care and outcome are all managed by the same provider
  • Fewer long term complications in terms of risk management
